Public Debt Issues Corrected STRIPS Table

The amount outstanding for the 5-year Inflation Indexed Note issued July 31, 1997, was reported in error in the Monthly Statement of the Public Debt. Because of this, the STRIPS data released on August 6, 1997, was incorrect. The correct amount outstanding for the 5-year Inflation Indexed Note is $8,403,805,000.

The press release announcing activity figures for July 1997 for securities in the STRIPS program now points to the corrected information.
