Page Title: ManageDirect® > Establish an Account for a Minor

What you can do on this page

A Minor account is a custodial account that is linked to your Primary account, which you can establish for a child under the age of 18 if you are a parent, natural guardian, or person providing chief support. You may purchase, redeem, receive gift deliveries, and perform other transactions within the account on behalf of the minor. When the minor reaches age 18 and establishes his or her own Primary account, you may de-link the securities from the Minor account to move them to the newly established account.

Select "Use my Primary Account Information" to use the account address and contact information already supplied in your Primary account. You may provide different information if you wish. After establishing a minor account, if you wish to add any of the bank accounts listed in your Primary Account or add a new bank, go to ManageDirect within the minor account and click the “Update my Bank Information” link for further information., If you need to designate a different existing bank account as the primary bank, call us at (844) 284-2676.

You may purchase and redeem securities, and receive gifts, on behalf of the minor. Holdings in a Minor account are kept separately from your Primary account. They can only be accessed through your Primary account.

You can even create a customized account name, such as "Ben's College Fund." If you leave the 'Give Your Account a Name' field blank, the account name will default to an abbreviated account name.

In the Submission section you certify:

  • You have provided the minor's correct Taxpayer Identification Number. (This is typically the Social Security Number.)
  • The minor is NOT subject to backup withholding.
  • The minor is a U.S. person.

HELPFUL HINT

You may provide a phone number in the Account Information section as your contact phone number for the Minor account.

Primary Actions

  • Click "Submit" to go to ManageDirect > Establish an Account for a Minor > Review.
  • Click "Cancel" to return to > ManageDirect.

What you can do on this page:

This page allows you to view and edit the minor's current account information and provides valuable information about the Minor account status. You may also access the minor's Bank Information , Registration List , and Account History from this page.

Primary Actions

  • Click "Bank Information" to go to ManageDirect > Bank Information.
  • Click "Registration List" to go to ManageDirect > Registration List.
  • Click "Edit" to go to Account Info for a Minor Account > Edit.
  • Click "History" to go to History > Account History.

What you can do on this page:

This page allows you to edit specific fields within the Minor account.

Please contact us to edit any unavailable fields, such as name or Social Security Number. Only Customer Service can change these fields to maintain the security and accuracy of the account.

  • Click "Submit" to go to Account Info for a Minor Account and view any updates.
  • Click "Cancel" to return to Account Info for a Minor Account.

What you can do on this page:

On this page, you must agree with the certification statement displayed in order to continue with your transaction. If you don't agree, click "Cancel" to end your transaction on behalf of the minor.

What you can do on this page:

You may redeem all or part of your Zero-Percent C of I. Your payment destination must be selected from the list of financial institutions. The payment destination you select will be credited within one business day.

HELPFUL HINT

When purchasing a C of I by debiting your financial institution, the total balance of your C of I will be ineligible for redemption for five business days. This is necessary in the event your C of I purchase request is returned to us by your financial institution. Five business days following receipt of the debit purchase, your funds are once again eligible for redemption.

Primary Actions

  • Click "Submit" to go to ManageDirect > C of I Redemption Review.
  • Click "Cancel" to return to your previous page.

What you can do on this page:

You may redeem all or part of your Payroll Zero-Percent C of I. You can reach this page from ManageDirect by clicking the Redeem securities link. Your payment destination must be selected from the list of financial institutions. The payment destination you select will be credited within one business day.

HELPFUL HINT

Redemption of your Payroll Zero-Percent C of I does not stop your payroll allotment. You must contact your employer to stop your payroll allotment.

Primary Actions

  • Click the correct radio button to redeem either the full amount or a partial amount. If requesting a partial redemption, enter the amount you choose to redeem.
  • Select a payment destination.
  • Click "Submit" to go to the Redemption Review page.
  • Click "Cancel" to return to your previous page.

You may review the instructions selected for the redemption of all or part of your Zero-Percent C of I. Your payment destination details are displayed. You may choose to edit the information if it is incorrect. The payment destination you select will be credited within one business day.

What you can do on this page:

You can view a summary of your transaction records for every Zero-Percent C of I and Payroll Zero-Percent C of I transaction in your account. For details about a particular transaction, choose the button next to the one you wish to view and click "Submit".

  • Choose the radio button for a Zero-Percent C of I transaction and click "Submit" to view the details of that transaction.
  • Click "Cancel" to return to your previous page.

Page Title: BuyDirect® > Purchase Review using Zero-Percent C of I

What you can do on this page:

Review your purchase information using Zero-Percent C of I before submitting a request. Just double-check the registration and purchase details. You can select the "Edit" button to return to BuyDirect to make any necessary changes.

Your purchases are generally posted to your TreasuryDirect account within one business day of the purchase date.

HELPFUL HINT

You won't receive paper bonds. All bonds are held electronically in your TreasuryDirect account.

Primary Actions

  • Click "Submit" to complete the purchase and go to the Confirmation page .
  • Click "Edit" to make changes on the BuyDirect page.
  • Click "Cancel" to discontinue the purchase process and go to your previous page.
